National Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, so this month we are joining the movement to promote Child Abuse Prevention Month! The purpose of this movement is to raise awareness that child abuse is preventable. The Child Abuse Prevention Center (CAP) is at the forefront of this fight, prevent child abuse and neglect through safety, education, health and advocacy; for almost forty years, the CAP Center has contributed to this cause by reducing the child abuse rate by 96% among the children and families it serves.
Please join our firm as we join this national movement with the CAP Center. Here are a few ways you can be involved with CAP Month!
- On Friday, April 8, you can wear blue to support child abuse prevention efforts. You can encourage your family, friends, and coworkers to wear blue as well and share your photos in blue using the hashtag, #WearBlue4Kids. Don’t forget to tag the CAP Center on Facebook and Twitter!
- You can plant a pinwheel garden in your community. The pinwheel is a symbolic representation of the great childhoods all children deserve. ‘Pinwheels for Prevention’ pinwheels are available for sale through the end of the month to CAP Center’s partners and individuals throughout California. You can learn more about this initiative by visiting preventchildabuse.org!
- You can also give a monetary donation to The State Children’s Trust Fund, a statewide resource that specifically supports local child abuse prevention and intervention projects.
